The Mullahs ruined a country which once was a respected member of the int’l community and a force for good. The Islamic regime has ruined a proud country which once was a modern and developing nation. For example, in 1978 each US Dollar was 70 Iranian Rials (monetary unit) and today in 2008 after 30 yrs each USD is 9500 Rials. Islam when mixed with politics can be deadly!

The Shah was a dictator in the classical sense though. Guess the new boss turned out to be even worse than the old.

Shah was not a dictator in any sense. By saying that he was a dictator, it shows that Liberals have got into your brain and brainwashed you to believe he was one. Sad that liberals can brainwash any one

I didn’t say he wasn’t worse than the Ayatollahs. Looks like the Iranians were in such an uproar to get rid of the Shah that they ended up with a much more prime example of “the religious ultra-right” than the “liberals” like to say the Republicans are.

Just because Lenin was bad doesn´t imply that the Czar was much better. Just the other way round, because the Czar was so bad it was so easy for Lenin to replace him. Same for Persia. In 1978, Persia had already been renamed to “Iran” in a bow to the Nazis by the Shah´s father, and its freedom was already corrupted by the rule of secret police that Khomeini later took to new extremes. Nobody wants to go back to 1978 even if they could.

Inflation? As the international fails to impose economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran, its own economy does.
